Small Bowel Enteroscopy

Overview

Small Bowel Enteroscopy enables the Gastroenterologist to examine portions of the small bowel not accessible with the usual gastroscope or colonscope in order to diagnose patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (iron-deficiency anemia or visible bleeding). It is also used to diagnose patients suspected of having Crohn’sdisease (abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever elevated white blood count or weight loss). The patient will be sedated and will need someone to drive him/her home. This test usually takes 2 hours to complete.
